Custom software continues to produce productivity enhancements, cost effectiveness, and scalability for small and medium organizations that need robust support with flexibility for their growing businesses. Compared to off-the-shelf software, a well-managed software development project offers the opportunity for a just-right solution.
Our principals have been developing custom software since 1976, when we built what may have been the first realtime back-office system on Wall Street, back when overnight batch reporting systems were standard. Our team of experienced developers works in Costa Rica, where they produce Java and C applications for the web, smartphones, and the iPad. We offer local project management and spec writing, and on-site requirements gathering in the New York metropolitan area, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley.

WaltKnowsGold (.NET). In addition to a public website designed to facilitate a customer's mailing in of his or her gold-containing jewelry, we specified and developed an analysis and database program that automatically recorded the weight of each incoming package and of each piece in the package on a USB-attached scale, photographed each weighing with a hi-res webcam and stored the photo, recorded the results of an x-ray diffusion analysis, calculated the gold, silver and platinum content of each piece and of the total package, calculated the amount to be paid to the customer, and cut a check for that amount, together with necessary management reporting. The client's requirement was to handle 10,000 packages a month with security and minimal clerical intervention, and to provide a searchable archive.
